Despite laborious efforts to lower the toll, falls from height are still one of the most common causes of death and major injury for workers in the building industry.
Although the number of injuries has actually fallen significantly over the last twenty years or two, building remains a high-risk market. There were 50 deadly injuries in the building trade in 2011. And although building work accounts for only about 5 per cent of the British work-force, it still accounts for 27 per cent of deadly injuries and nine percent of significant injuries.
